​         Hello, history enthusiasts! I'm David, a retired pediatrician who found a new passion in historical preservation. It all started on a cold January morning in 2017 when I first laid eyes on an enchanting house built in 1811. Since that moment, my wife Marianne and I have dedicated ourselves to meticulously restoring this beautiful home, and we are excited to share our journey and the fascinating history we've uncovered along the way.

In the coming posts, I will delve into the rich history of the Kemble Family and the West Point Foundry, a site of immense historical significance. The Foundry played a crucial role in transforming America from an agrarian economy to an industrial powerhouse. One of its most notable contributions was the Parrott gun, a weapon instrumental in the North's victory during the Civil War.

          Cold Spring, NY, was a place of innovation and influence. West Point Military Academy engineers were pivotal in the development of the Foundry, and New York luminaries gathered right here in this house.
